Leaf

This biophilic wall art piece combines natural materials with circular design principles. Built from reclaimed voile and an old tablecloth, it captures the calm tactility of textiles. The wooden hoop acts as both frame and structure, turning a simple everyday object into a symbol of care and continuity. Its palette reflects the muted tones of leaves like soft greens, beige and layered neutrals that bring quiet presence to any interior.

Each leaf form was carefully cut, heat-shaped and attached to reinforced strips made from the same tablecloth. Through this process, discarded domestic textiles are given new life. When placed in a draft or near moving air, the piece responds like a real leaf, gently shifting as if breathing. This movement reveals how even static materials can evoke a sense of nature and rhythm in built environments.

Part of the Patterns of Life series, Leaf connects textile craft with biophilic design by bringing nature into interior spaces. It reminds us that sustainable design can also be sensory and poetic. Each fibre and each fold contributes to an atmosphere of renewal and balance within contemporary spaces.
