Wood, Textile, Glass beads
44 cm x 84 cm
A bookshelf, a painting frame, a mirror frame, a dress, two pieces of fabric, a tunic shirt, glass beads, bias tape, bath salt, colored decorative sand.
Flora reinterprets the ornate floral language of Russian Zhostovo painting but not with paint, but through layers of reclaimed textiles.
Instead of lacquer and brush, fabric and thread become the medium. Each flower is cut, shaped and stitched by hand, echoing the luminous patterns once found on traditional metal trays.
The work belongs to the Heritage series, which explores how cultural aesthetics can be revived through sustainable making. By translating an old craft tradition into textile form, Flora continues the dialogue between ornament and function, history and renewal.
This textile art revival honours the visual richness of folk heritage while questioning how decorative arts can evolve in a post-industrial age. Every reused fabric carries its own history either it's domestic, industrial, or personal. Together they form a tactile archive of colour and pattern.
Flora is not a copy but a transformation: a celebration of heritage through contemporary material intelligence.
